Fatal Car Crash in Boardman: Ohio State Highway Patrol

A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday morning in Boardman, Ohio, where a Youngstown man lost his life after colliding with a utility pole on Market Street. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that Raymond W. Dickey, 60, veered off the road, striking both a utility pole and a light pole. Unfortunately, Dickey was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The crash happened on State Route 7 near Forest Lake Drive in Boardman Township at approximately 4:15 a.m., with OSHP arriving at 6:30 a.m. One of the southbound lanes was blocked for a mile, causing traffic delays. Although drugs and alcohol are not believed to have played a role in the crash, troopers noted that Dickey was not wearing a seatbelt. Authorities from Boardman Township police, the Boardman Township Fire Department EMS, and the Mahoning County Coroner's Office provided assistance at the scene. The incident is still under investigation, with John Skoloda providing information for the report.
