Fatal bike accident in St. Landry Parish
Louisiana State Police Troop I is currently looking into a tragic incident involving a cyclist. The authorities reported that on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, a 68-year-old individual named Dallas Pitre was riding a bicycle in the wrong direction on Highway 190 when a Ford commercial van collided with him. Despite not wearing a helmet, Pitre lost his life at the scene. The driver of the van, who was unharmed and using a seatbelt, cooperated with authorities and was found to have no alcohol in their system. While a standard toxicology sample was gathered from Pitre for further examination, the specifics of the crash are still being investigated.
