Fatal Aurora Crash: 1 Dead, 2 Suspects Injured, Police Report
One individual has been reported deceased and two people are in custody receiving medical treatment after a collision that resulted in the closure of all lanes on Blackhawk Street and Iliff Avenue in Aurora. According to Aurora police, the incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. The deceased driver was the sole occupant in their vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and their passenger from another vehicle were apprehended at the crash site and transported to a hospital for treatment, with the full extent of their injuries currently unknown. An Aurora police representative mentioned that during speed enforcement on Interstate 225, an APD motorcycle officer identified a speeding driver, initiated a traffic stop, but the driver failed to comply, exiting onto Iliff prior to the crash. Fortunately, the officer sustained no injuries. Visuals from CBS Colorado's helicopter display a severely damaged red or maroon car and a white sedan with significant front-end wreckage. Unconfirmed footage captured by a nearby individual indicates an APD motorcycle officer handcuffing two individuals by the white car. Authorities are advising the public to steer clear of the area and use East Jewell Avenue or East Yale Avenue as alternate routes. At present, there is no provided timeframe for when these roads will reopen.
