Fatal accidents reduced at Clark County intersection with roundabout installation
In Dayton, Ohio, it is noted that Clark County became one of the first in Ohio to have a roundabout more than ten years ago. The Ohio Department of Transportation states that the roundabout was constructed at State Route 41 and 235 in Pike Township in 2014. Before its installation, the intersection had experienced a total of 49 crashes, five of which were fatal. However, since the roundabout was put in place, the number of fatal crashes decreased to zero, with only one reported "serious injury crash," which allegedly involved an impaired motorcyclist without a helmet. Bud O'Brien, deputy director of District 7 at ODOT, praised the success of the project, emphasizing ODOT's commitment to analyzing areas and implementing positive changes. The fact that there has been a 100% reduction in fatalities is seen as a significant achievement for the community. To learn more about roundabouts, click here.
