Fatal accident shuts down northbound I-95 near Dunn in Harnett County, per NC authorities
A fatal crash occurred on Interstate 95 in Harnett County on Monday afternoon, leading to the closure of all northbound lanes near Bud Hawkins Road. The incident, reported around 4:20 p.m., resulted in one death according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Traffic delays of up to a mile were reported by 5 p.m. The NCDOT announced a detour for northbound I-95 drivers, directing them to take Exit 70, turn right on Bud Hawkins Road, right on U.S. 301 North, right on Long Branch Road, and then left to rejoin I-95 North. The NCDOT expects all lanes to reopen by 7:23 p.m. The cause of the crash and any additional injuries are unknown as the Highway Patrol continues their investigation.
