Fatal accident on Ridge Road near Central and Maple
A tragic accident occurred in west Wichita on Thursday afternoon resulting in the death of a motorcyclist. Around 2:30 p.m., authorities responded to a crash on Ridge Road near 1st Street involving a motorcycle. It was found that a pickup truck had stopped to make a left turn, and as a motorcyclist attempted to maneuver around a vehicle waiting behind the truck, they collided with its rear. The victim, a 54-year-old man from Wichita, was fatally injured despite efforts by EMS. Captain Ronald Hunt from the Wichita Police Department urged caution for motorcyclists, emphasizing the vulnerability they face in traffic incidents. Ridge Road between Central and Maple was closed for investigation by accident reconstruction teams, leading to a prolonged closure as safety measures were taken.
