Fatal accident involving big rig on Interstate 80 near Truckee
A fatal incident involving a big rig occurred on Sunday on Interstate 80 near the state line as reported by the California Highway Patrol. The crash transpired on the westbound lanes of I-80, just east of Hirschdale Road at approximately 1:20 a.m. According to the CHP, the driver of the big rig veered off to the right, colliding with the guardrail, causing the cab to overturn onto its roof as it partially descended down a dirt embankment. The big rig obstructed the lanes while perched on the embankment. Tragically, the driver, identified as a 45-year-old man, succumbed to the crash.
