Fatal accident closes southbound I71.
UPDATE as of 7:50 a.m.: The accident has been resolved and traffic is gradually returning to normal flow. Unfortunately, all southbound lanes on I-71 near Zorn Avenue had to be closed due to a fatal collision involving two trucks earlier this morning. The incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. when a truck collided with the back of a stationary semi-truck, which was halted on the interstate due to a previous rollover involving another semi-truck. Tragically, the truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the semi-truck driver was hospitalized as a precautionary measure. The closure is expected to last for approximately 5 hours, as reported by Trimarc. The Louisville Metro Police Department's traffic unit is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
