The incident occurred around 6:40 a.m. on the northbound side of the highway near the Castillo Street offramp. The vehicle was reported to have overturned. The crash led to the closure of northbound lanes for several hours, causing traffic backups on nearby roads such as Bath and West Carillo. By 10:30 a.m., one lane at Mission Street had been reopened according to Caltrans. The investigation by the CHP in collaboration with Caltrans was anticipated to take some time.
