
Fatal accident causes extended shutdown on Highway 36 in Coryell County
A fatal collision occurred on Highway 36 in Coryell County on Wednesday morning, resulting in one person's death and another individual being injured. According to the Texas DPS, the incident involved a 2014 Jeep driven by an 18-year-old and a 2012 Ford F-350 driven by a 22-year-old woman from Gatesville. The Jeep driver lost control on a wet curve, crossed into the path of the Ford, and collided at around 10:30 a.m. The Jeep driver succumbed to their injuries at Baylor Scott and White in Temple, while the Ford driver was hospitalized with stable condition. The investigation into the crash is currently ongoing. This stretch of road has seen previous accidents, particularly on wet surfaces, according to DPS Sgt. Bryan Washko.
