Family sues FAA, Army, and American Airlines after D.C. plane crash.

The family of one of the 67 individuals who tragically lost their lives earlier this year in a collision between an American Airlines plane and a United States Army helicopter above Washington, D.C., has filed a lawsuit against the government and the airlines involved. The lawsuit alleges that they did not heed warning signs following over 30 near-misses in the area. Around 60 other families are anticipated to join this initial lawsuit, which aims to hold the Federal Aviation Administration, the Army, American Airlines, and PSA Airlines accountable for the deadliest U.S. plane crash since 2001. The lawsuit was filed by the widow of Casey Crafton from Connecticut, who is now raising three young boys alone and described her husband as a loving family man and beloved member of their community. She emphasized the importance of seeking accountability from the involved parties to prevent such a tragedy from happening again. The National Transportation Safety Board has identified various factors that likely played a role in the collision, with the final report due next year. American Airlines has stated its commitment to prioritizing safety and supporting the ongoing investigation.
