FAA halts more aircraft after fatal UPS accident

In response to the UPS plane crash that resulted in fatalities, the Federal Aviation Administration has issued extended directives for grounding various airplane models. Following the tragic incident on November 4 involving UPS flight 2976, where the left engine detached during takeoff, causing casualties, the FAA has implemented an Emergency Airworthiness Directive (EAD) impacting several aircraft. Initially affecting MD-11 and MD-11F models, the EAD has been expanded to include nine additional models like Boeing MD-11, DC-10-10, and DC-10-30. These aircraft are now prohibited from flying until thorough inspections and necessary actions are completed, due to similarities in engine and pylon structures with the MD-11 model. Detailed information on the extended EAD can be found on the FAA website.
