Elderly couple dies, 1 injured in Geneva crash

A tragic collision in Geneva on Friday afternoon resulted in the deaths of an elderly couple and injuries to one individual, Geneva police confirmed. The incident occurred around 1:40 p.m. at the intersection of Bricher Road and Fisher Drive. According to authorities, a dark blue BMW traveling east on Bricher was hit by a blue Toyota Corolla making a westbound turn onto Bricher from Fisher. The impact caused the Toyota to be pushed beyond the intersection and forced the BMW off the road into a wooded area north of the intersection. Firefighters managed to extinguish a fire that broke out in the BMW. The elderly couple, an 85-year-old man driving the Toyota and his 88-year-old wife, were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The BMW, operated by an 18-year-old driver with three passengers aged 18 to 19, saw the driver and two passengers treated and released on-site, while another passenger was taken to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva. Specifics on their condition have not been disclosed. The crash is currently under investigation, and no charges have been filed as of yet.
