DUI charges dropped for semi-truck driver in deadly crash after toxicology results
The San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office has disclosed that the toxicology report for Jashanpreet Singh, a 21-year-old from Yuba City, stated that none of the substances he was tested for were present in his blood. Although this information has been confirmed, the DA's office maintains that this incident is classified as a "grossly negligent homicide." Consequently, they have filed an amended complaint to reflect this recent discovery. Singh was reported to be under the influence of drugs when his tractor-trailer collided with multiple vehicles on the 10 freeway in Southern California, resulting in three fatalities and two individuals being hospitalized. On Oct. 23, Singh, who was residing in Yuba City unlawfully, was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement following allegations of causing a fatal accident while driving under the influence. San Bernardino County District Attorney Jason Anderson addressed the tragedy, deeming it avoidable if the defendant had not been driving recklessly and impaired. Anderson expressed disappointment that proper laws were not enforced by State and Federal officials, preventing Singh from being in California, ultimately resulting in the devastating incident.
