DUI charge dismissed for truck driver in fatal California collision
A DUI charge against the driver involved in a fatal eight-car pileup in California has been dismissed after tests showed no drugs or alcohol in his system. The driver, Jashanpreet Singh, was accused of crashing a semitrailer into multiple vehicles on Interstate 10 in Ontario, resulting in the death of three individuals. Singh had initially been arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. However, recent toxicology reports revealed no substances were present in his blood at the time of the incident. Singh pleaded not guilty to charges of vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving. Singh, who entered the U.S. illegally in 2022, is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 6 and is currently in custody. The crash has reignited discussions about the process for obtaining commercial driver’s licenses.
