A man from Stockton, 53-year-old Norberto Celerino, has been charged in a tragic Napa County crash that resulted in the deaths of six passengers and injured others. According to Napa County District Attorney's Office, Celerino had three prior DUI convictions, with the latest two in 2020 and 2024 in San Joaquin County. The details of the third conviction, which is over a decade old, were not disclosed. Additionally, he was driving without a valid license. Celerino now faces charges of murder, vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and driving under the influence following the crash in Pope Valley. The incident, which occurred around 6 p.m. on Pope Valley Road, involved a Toyota minivan that veered off the road and hit a tree. Among the eight people in the van, six tragically lost their lives at the scene, while Celerino and another passenger sustained major injuries. It was reported that there were no children in the vehicle during the crash, and Celerino was arrested at the hospital following the incident. Arrest records mentioned that he displayed signs of intoxication, such as watery, red eyes, slurred speech, and an alcohol smell on his breath. Celerino acknowledged consuming alcohol earlier in the day, and the authorities have not yet revealed the names of the deceased victims in the accident. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
