Driver mistakenly accelerated instead of braking in fatal Ladue Barnes & Noble accident

New information has surfaced following a tragic incident at the Ladue Barnes & Noble store where a vehicle crashed into a window, resulting in one fatality and two individuals sustaining injuries. The Ladue Police Department reported that the accident occurred on Friday afternoon at the Ladue Crossing Shopping Center on Ladue Road. Authorities found a 74-year-old woman, later identified as Paula Abboud, deceased at the scene and her 75-year-old husband among those hospitalized. The driver, a 53-year-old woman, stated that she mistakenly thought she was applying the brakes. Although unharmed, she requested a hospital evaluation for psychological reasons and was not charged in connection with the crash.
