Driver killed in crash with tractor-trailer on I-495 in Virginia
A driver is dead after crashing into the back of a tractor-trailer early Friday morning on the Capital Beltway in Virginia. The crash happened around 1:50 a.m. along northbound I-495 and near the Old Dominion overpass when a tractor-trailer carrying produce was slowing down due to traffic from a nearby work zone.The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and struck the truck from behind. The impact of the crash wedged the vehicle under the tractor-trailer. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.Officials have not yet released the identity of the driver.The roadway was closed for several hours. The crash remains under investigation.
