Driver in fatal 2023 Woodside crash takes plea deal
A woman involved in a fatal head-on car crash on Interstate 280 in Woodside in 2023 has accepted a plea deal to resolve the case. 26-year-old Constellatia Martin from Campbell pleaded no contest to felony vehicular manslaughter, reckless driving causing great bodily injury, and fleeing the scene. As part of the deal, other charges related to the crash were dropped and Martin could face up to 9 years and 8 months in state prison. The collision occurred when Martin was driving her white 2010 Ford Fusion against traffic and collided with a black 2019 BMW SUV, resulting in the death of 54-year-old Eden Palmer from San Francisco. Palmer’s 16-year-old son, also in the vehicle, survived with major injuries. Martin attempted to flee but was apprehended by officers and found to have marijuana in her system. A judge denied a motion for mental health diversion, and Martin is scheduled to be sentenced on December 17.
