Driver gets 1-year sentence and $13K fine for hit-and-run at Granby High

A man in Norfolk has been sentenced to one year and four months in prison for causing a three-car accident and fleeing the scene in front of Granby High. On March 22, 2024, 33-year-old Gilley Nash Gilreath rear-ended a car on Granby Street, causing a chain reaction that resulted in significant damage to all three vehicles. Instead of offering assistance or exchanging information, Gilreath removed items from his car and walked away. He was identified and arrested with the help of Granby High speed cameras. Gilreath pled guilty in August and was sentenced to prison, with part of the sentence suspended pending three years of good behavior. He is also required to pay $13,140 in restitution to the victims. The Norfolk Commonwealth Attorney's Office emphasized the importance of staying at the scene of a car crash to offer help and work with authorities, as leaving the scene can lead to further legal trouble and risk the well-being of others.
