Driver facing court for crash killing two Marquette students

The individual who reportedly caused the collision resulting in the tragic deaths of two Marquette University men's lacrosse players is set to appear in a Milwaukee County court on Thursday for a preliminary hearing. The incident took place on Sept. 5 near 27th Street and St. Paul Avenue, leading to the passing of Scott Michaud, 19, and Noah Snyder, 20, from their injuries. Other Marquette students in the car sustained injuries but survived as per prosecutors. Allegedly, Amandria Brunner, 41, of West Allis, is said to have made a left turn on a yellow light and crashed with a Jeep. Authorities claim that video footage shows Brunner accelerating through the intersection while the light was yellow. Upon police investigation, Brunner displayed signs of impairment including bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and poor balance at the scene. Her blood alcohol content later tested at 0.133, above the legal limit of 0.08 in Wisconsin. Additional items found in her vehicle included an open beer can and a marijuana grinder with THC. Brunner faces charges of two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and has a cash bond set at $75,000. The Assistant District Attorney emphasized the severity of the case and the devastating consequences due to Brunner's alleged decision to drive while heavily intoxicated during her initial court appearance on Sept. 10. Today, a judge will determine if there is enough evidence to advance the case to trial. If found guilty of the charges, Brunner could face up to 80 years in prison.
