Driver facing charges in Racine bus crash injuring 11 was previously accused in deadly hit and run
The Racine County District Attorney has verified that authorities have arrested a 20-year-old individual, Shamya Anderson, involved in a major city bus accident that harmed 11 people this week. Anderson was previously out on bond for a separate incident where she was charged with hitting and fatally injuring a man with her vehicle before fleeing the scene in December. The recent bus crash happened close to where the fatal hit-and-run occurred. The victim's family expressed their grief over the loss, with the victim's mother, Tresia Funderberg, mentioning the significant impact it has had on their lives. Anderson, who was 19 at the time of the previous incident, admitted to police her involvement in the hit-and-run. Despite ongoing court proceedings, Anderson's legal representation remains uncertain. Funderberg, advocating for Anderson's incarceration until trial, was shocked by the news of Anderson's recent arrest in relation to the bus crash. The victim's family hopes for justice and that Anderson will be detained pending her trial.
