Driver attributes car crashing into Brockton smoke shop to brake malfunction

The front of a Brockton store had to be reinforced with boards on Monday due to a vehicle crashing into the building through the glass windows on Sunday evening. According to police, the incident happened at 7 p.m. at the Go Smoke Shop on Belmont Street where two employees were present. One employee sustained minor injuries but is expected to recover. The driver, a 43-year-old woman, claimed her brakes failed causing the accident. Surveillance footage captured the car driving through a parking lot, jumping the curb, and crashing through the storefront, sending glass and merchandise flying. An adjacent sub shop employee, Chris Azor, described feeling the whole building shake during the impact and mentioned the driver also suffered injuries. He shared that the driver seemed distraught and in need of assistance after the crash. The driver, who remains unidentified, was cited for driving without a license.
