Driver admits guilt in Arden Hills crash that killed two

A tragic crash occurred in Arden Hills, Minnesota in February 2024, resulting in the deaths of two individuals in their 70s. The driver responsible for the crash, Luis Eduardo Tipantuna Quinchiguano, 33, pleaded guilty on Monday for the incident that occurred on westbound Interstate 694 near Snelling Avenue. Tipantuna Quinchiguano was driving a Chevrolet Equinox when he collided with the victims' vehicle, causing it to be pushed in front of a semi-truck, as per court documents. Following a preliminary breath test, his blood alcohol content was recorded at .218, significantly surpassing the legal limit. The criminal complaint mentioned that a paramedic noted his extreme intoxication that required hospitalization. Tipantuna Quinchiguano faced four counts of criminal vehicular homicide, ultimately pleading guilty to two counts of the same. The prosecution intends to dismiss the remaining two counts. The victims, Curtis O'Connor, 76, and Karin O'Connor, 74, were identified in the crash. At present, a sentencing date for Tipantuna Quinchiguano has not been scheduled.
