Driver admits fault in Beltway accident that claimed lives of 6 workers

Lisa Lea, a driver involved in a fatal crash on the Beltway in 2023, has admitted her responsibility in court. She recently pleaded guilty to six counts of negligent manslaughter, related to a collision that resulted in the deaths of six construction workers. The crash occurred when her car collided with another vehicle, leading to one of the cars crashing into a work zone. It was revealed that both drivers were traveling at speeds over 120 mph, with Lea having drugs in her system at the time of the accident. While Lea faces a recommended sentence of 24 years in prison and three years of probation as part of a plea deal, the legal case remains ongoing. Additionally, the family of one of the deceased workers is suing Maryland and the construction company, alleging insufficient safety measures were in place to protect workers like their loved one.
