
Driver accused of DWI in fatal pedestrian collision
A man has been taken into custody and charged with driving while intoxicated in connection to a fatal car-pedestrian collision that occurred on August 30 around 11:36 p.m. The Austin Police Department responded to a multi-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on the 6100 block of North I-35 southbound, where tragically the pedestrian lost their life. The driver, identified as Jarrel A. Broussard, was apprehended for DUI. The victim's identity has not been disclosed. This incident marks Austin's 69th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 73 deaths, compared to last year's 59 fatal crashes and 64 deaths on the same day in 2024.
