Bicycle Rider Killed in Crash Near Tehachapi TEHACHAPI, Calif. (August 22, 2025) — The victim of the tragic collision near Highline Road and Tehachapi Willow Springs Road on Thursday morning has been identified as Dee Roy Crowell, 81, a resident of Tehachapi. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident, involving a vehicle and a bicycle, occurred at around 8:22 a.m. First responders, including Kern County Fire Department units, arrived at the scene, but unfortunately, Mr. Crowell did not survive the accident. The Kern County Coroner's Office was summoned shortly before 9 a.m., and the bicyclist's identity was disclosed the following day. The road was closed in both directions for several hours to allow investigators to examine the site, with traffic redirected to alternate routes. The authorities are investigating the crash to determine the cause.
