Deadly head-on collision in Namibia kills more than 12 people

Eleven members of the Namibia Correctional Service, a police officer, and two civilians tragically lost their lives in a road accident over the weekend in southern Namibia. The incident, a head-on collision on the B1 highway near Mariental, 268 kilometres from the capital Windhoek, has deeply saddened President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. Expressing condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the members of the Namibia Correctional Service and Namibian Police Force, the President emphasized the profound impact of this loss. The accident involved a police van carrying six passengers, including five officers and one civilian, and a Namibian correctional service van with 13 occupants on board. Three individuals sustained critical injuries and are currently receiving medical care.
