Deadly chase culminates in collision in Granite City, Illinois.
A police chase in Granite City, Illinois, tragically ended in a deadly accident on Thursday afternoon. Authorities from the Granite City Police Department were tracking an individual with an active arrest warrant for Parole Violation just before 4 p.m. Identified as Montie Eugene Ritchie, 34, the suspect was on a motorcycle. Despite police attempting to stop him during a traffic stop, Ritchie fled and the pursuit quickly resulted in a fatal crash at the intersection of Maryville Road and Pontoon Road. Reports indicate that Ritchie, who was speeding, collided with a Hyundai. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Illinois State Police are currently investigating this incident.
