Deadly car crash claims lives of three men and two women in their 20s in Co Louth, according to Irish police.

A tragic road crash in Co Louth on Saturday night claimed the lives of three men and two women, according to Irish police. The collision involving two vehicles occurred on the L3168 in Gibstown, Dundalk, just after 9 pm. All five victims, who were in their 20s and traveling in a Volkswagen Golf, died at the scene. Another man from the same vehicle was rescued and taken to a hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The Golf collided with a Toyota Land Cruiser, with two individuals from the second car also hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries. Superintendent Charlie Armstrong praised the emergency response and expressed condolences to the families and communities affected by the tragedy. An investigation is ongoing, and he appealed for anyone with information or footage of the incident to come forward. The stretch of road where the crash occurred was closed for forensic examination, with traffic diversions in place.
