Deadly car accident in Craven County: 1 fatality, 1 person wounded
A tragic accident occurred on Nov. 5 in Craven County, N.C., resulting in the death of one woman and the serious injury of another. The incident took place at the intersection of U.S. 70 West and U.S. 17 South when a Honda Civic with a flat tire was stopped in the far-right lane instead of the shoulder. The driver had exited the vehicle and was standing behind it when a Toyota Tacoma collided with her, pushing her between the two cars and ultimately crashing into the Honda. The driver of the Honda, 54-year-old Vicki Michelle Wallace from New Bern, was fatally injured, while the driver of the Toyota sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Carolina East Medical Center for treatment. Both vehicles had no passengers, and authorities do not anticipate filing charges against the Toyota driver.
