A tragic accident occurred on Saturday evening in Kimball Township involving a car and a hay wagon, resulting in the death of one woman and injuries to several others. The incident took place on Smiths Creek Road just before 7:30 p.m. A 79-year-old man from Kimball Township was driving a tractor with five passengers on a trailer when a Buick Regal driven by a 44-year-old man rear-ended them. The tractor did not have proper rear lights or a slow-moving vehicle emblem at the time of the crash. Emergency services treated all those involved at the scene before transporting them to nearby hospitals. The 79-year-old tractor driver is in critical condition, while an 85-year-old woman passed away. Another passenger, a 77-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries, and three others had minor injuries. The Buick driver was treated for minor injuries as well. The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Team is conducting further inquiries into the accident.
