Closure of westbound I-70 in Glenwood Canyon after semi rollover crash

Officials in western Colorado reopened the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 in Glenwood Canyon on Saturday afternoon, following a semi rollover crash the day before. The closure was needed for cleanup work after the accident occurred around 6 p.m. on Friday, resulting in a prolonged closure of the westbound lanes. The interstate briefly reopened overnight but was closed again at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, reopening approximately 90 minutes later. The Colorado Department of Transportation noted that Glenwood Canyon poses challenges due to limited space for operations. It has not been confirmed if there were any injuries in the crash. A detour route was in place during the closure, redirecting drivers through various highways and adding extra travel time for those heading west through Colorado.
