Closure of Southbound I-19 because of vehicle accident

An announcement from the Santa Rita Fire District stated that multiple agencies responded to a collision at 8:30 a.m. on Interstate 19 near Papago Road (Kilometer Post 88). Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered a single SUV overturned in the median, with several individuals outside the vehicle. Immediate medical assistance was provided by an off-duty AMR medic present at the scene, where four patients were identified. One patient was rushed to Banner University Medical Center - Main Campus in critical condition. Two pediatric patients were taken by ambulance to the same facility in stable condition, while unfortunately, the fourth patient was declared deceased at the site. The cause of the accident is currently being investigated. Southbound Interstate 19 is closed due to the incident near kilometer post 88, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
