Chicago bus crashes into home after hit-and-run incident on North Side, according to CPD
A CTA bus was involved in a collision with a home on the North Side of the city over the weekend following a hit-and-run incident. The incident occurred on Saturday night in Jefferson Park, specifically in the 5500 block of N. Central Avenue, as reported by the Chicago Police Department. The crash took place around 10:40 p.m. when a black sedan traveling eastbound on Catalpa Avenue failed to stop at a stop sign and hit the front driver's side of the northbound CTA bus on Central Avenue. The impact led to the bus driver losing control, resulting in collisions with a parked car, a fence, and ultimately the side of the home. The black sedan fled the scene prior to police arrival. The bus driver, a 46-year-old woman, sustained a head injury and was transported to a nearby hospital in fair condition. Fortunately, there were no passengers on the bus and no other injuries were reported. The incident caused structural damage to the home, displacing five residents. The Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance. Police are currently investigating the incident as no suspects have been detained yet.
