Charges Filed Against Repeat DUI Offender for Fatalities of 6 Individuals in California Wine Region

A 53-year-old man with a history of driving under the influence has been accused of causing a crash that led to the deaths of six individuals in Napa County. Norberto “Beto” Celerino, allegedly intoxicated at the time, was driving a van carrying seven farmworkers when it collided with a tree on Pope Valley Road. The crash resulted in six fatalities and left Celerino and one passenger with serious injuries. CHP and Napa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene, where the severely damaged van was found. Celerino was arrested for suspicion of DUI and taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries. He has prior DUI convictions in San Joaquin County and is facing charges including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. The case is under investigation by the DA’s office.
