Charges dropped for 2 officers involved in deadly collision

An Anne Arundel County judge has recently dismissed the indictment against two police officers who were charged with misconduct in office. The officers, Cpls. Eddie Vasquez and Kieran Schnell had been indicted in December 2024 and had been on desk duty since. However, their attorneys informed 11 News that both officers have now returned to patrol duties after the judge's decision. The officers are reportedly pleased with being able to serve the residents of Anne Arundel County once again. The indictment stemmed from a high-speed, unauthorized pursuit in Pasadena in 2023 that resulted in a fatal crash. This marked the first time the Maryland Attorney General's Office's Independent Investigations Division had charged officers with wrongdoing. The Attorney General's office is considering whether to appeal the judge's decision and stated, "We are reviewing the court's decision to determine next steps." Efforts to solicit a statement from the Anne Arundel County Police Department are currently underway.
