Car chased by police crashes into Chinese restaurant
In St. Louis, a stolen car fleeing from police crashed into a restaurant in the Baden neighborhood, resulting in one person being injured. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department shared that officers from the Anti-Crime Task Force were made aware of a stolen Infiniti and located it at a gas station. The driver, identified as Corey Davis, evaded police by speeding off. Despite police deploying spike strips and the car reaching speeds over 100 mph, the chase continued recklessly with Davis violating traffic rules. Eventually, the pursuit ended when Davis clipped a parked St. Louis Fire Department vehicle while attempting to pass another car, causing the stolen Infiniti to crash into Vinh's Chop Suey Restaurant on North Broadway. Davis sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, where he is being treated. A firearm ejected from the car during the crash was recovered at the scene. The damage to the restaurant and ambulance is estimated to be over $750, as per officials.
