Call for changes after another accident on 151st Street in Glenpool

Following a tragic accident involving a 9-year-old student in Glenpool, local law enforcement has heightened their focus on speeding in the vicinity. Recently, two Tulsa County Sheriffs were observed patrolling the area. Major Travis Jones of TCSO emphasized the significance of increased presence as a valuable tool in addressing safety concerns. Efforts have shifted towards addressing speeding issues along Highway 75, away from previous concerns related to U-turns and congestion. Glenpool officials, such as City Manager David Tilloston, are advocating for a reduction in the speed limit near the school, currently set at 65 miles per hour. While another accident near the Broadway intersection occurred on Sept. 9 without injuries, Glenpool Police Chief Jeremy Plane expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of Tulsa County Sheriffs and OHP in enforcing speed regulations. Glenpool Police Department also pledges to enhance their enforcement of speed and traffic controls on Hwy 67. A memorial placed at the corner of 151st and Warrior honors the young victim of the Sept. 8 crash with notes, stuffed animals, and a wooden cross near the crash site. ODOT provided a statement concerning the situation before this report was aired. Stay updated with 2 News Oklahoma through various platforms for the latest news updates and coverage.
