BYU student Kennard Davis Jr. cited for DUI and marijuana possession following crash

A member of the BYU men's basketball team was recently involved in a car accident and subsequently cited for possession of marijuana and driving under the influence. The player, Kennard Davis Jr., 20, was arrested following the crash, and the police report mentioned the use of various tests to determine impairment. Davis was treated for minor injuries and later released from the police station. BYU coach Kevin Young mentioned that Davis was not able to play in the team's recent game, but officials clarified that it was not a suspension. The player had been performing well in the early games of the season prior to the incident. The university's honor code prohibits students from using alcohol, tobacco, and other substances.
