Bus Crash Injures 10 Farmworkers in Safi Area

Ten individuals were hurt in a bus accident in the Safi region on Monday evening, with a vehicle carrying agricultural workers involved in the incident. According to Aziz Makhlouf from the Ministry of Health in Safi, ten women working on a farm nearby, as well as the driver, were injured to varying degrees. They were taken to Mohammed V Regional Hospital for treatment, where they are currently receiving care. An investigation has been initiated by local authorities to determine the cause of the accident. Morocco has seen a rise in serious traffic incidents recently, emphasizing the need for increased public safety measures. With 4,024 road accident fatalities in 2024, there has been a 5.37% increase from the previous year, and the trend has continued in the first half of 2025 with a 20.9% rise compared to the same period last year. In response, authorities have implemented more stringent traffic surveillance, such as speed checks for motorcycles and diplomatic vehicles, as part of broader efforts to decrease accidents. While these initiatives demonstrate a strong dedication from institutions, the road safety challenge remains significant.
