Boat overturns in Oceanside Harbor during rough surf

Four individuals were rescued from a capsized boat in Oceanside Harbor on Sunday due to rough ocean conditions. The incident occurred while the vessel was leaving the harbor, prompting a quick response from Oceanside Lifeguards and the fire department. Thankfully, the rescued individuals only sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization. The overturned boat was safely towed back into the harbor by the Marine Safety Unit. This incident coincides with high surf conditions along the San Diego County coastline, attributed to impacts from Hurricane Narda. The National Weather Service has issued a beach hazards statement in effect until Tuesday, warning of dangerous rip currents and breaking waves. The Oceanside Fire Department advises extra caution for beachgoers and boaters, emphasizing the importance of checking conditions before heading into the water and wearing lifejackets while on the ocean.
