Authorities probe fourth deadly Amish buggy accident in ten years
A tragic hit-and-run incident in rural Clarke County has resulted in the death of a 16-year-old in a horse-drawn buggy. This marks the fourth fatal collision involving a horse-drawn buggy in Iowa over the past decade. The crash occurred on 130th Avenue, known as Route 15, just south of Murray on Wednesday evening. The Iowa State Patrol's report states that a vehicle rear-ended the buggy about 1,000 feet south of the Forest Street intersection. This unfortunate event serves as a reminder of the dangers faced by Amish communities who commonly share the roads with motor vehicles in Southern Iowa. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident, particularly regarding a silver or gray Chevrolet sedan with possible extensive damage, to contact the Clarke County Sheriff's Office at (641)342-2108.
