Angels prospect Rio Foster in serious condition post car accident

Los Angeles Angels prospect Rio Foster is currently in critical condition following a solo vehicle accident that occurred in Richland, Washington, early on Friday morning. Foster, an outfielder for the Tri-City Dust Devils, the Angels’ High-A affiliate in Pascoe, Washington, was one of the passengers in the car. The driver was speeding and failed to navigate a roundabout, resulting in the car crashing into a fence and power pole around 2 a.m. PT. The recently released driver has been booked into the Benton County Jail on multiple counts of Vehicular Assault. Foster, age 22, had been having a standout season after being drafted by the Angels in the 16th round in 2023. He was recently named the Northwest League Player of the Month. Despite his critical injuries, there is no further update on his condition. The Dust Devils organization has canceled tonight's game against the Hillsboro Hops, and they ask for thoughts and prayers for Rio and his family during this challenging time.
