Alcohol suspected in fatal head-on crash in Midland
A tragic incident occurred in Midland as a driver lost their life in a head-on collision early Friday morning. Midland Police Department responded to the accident on North Big Spring Street, south of Loop 250. The driver of a northbound 2024 GMC pickup, identified as Tommy Torres Mendoza, crossed into the southbound lanes at high speed, colliding head-on with another vehicle before rolling over. The driver of the second vehicle passed away, and their identity is being withheld for the notification of their family. Mendoza, sustaining serious injuries, was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital and remains under medical care. The accident is attributed to alcohol involvement, as reported by MPD, and further investigations are ongoing with impending charges.
