Accusation: Truck driver allegedly watching TV before deadly Oklahoma crash

A truck driver from Texas, David Carlson, has been charged with manslaughter in Ottawa County, Oklahoma, following the death of an Oklahoma Turnpike Authority worker, Zachary Rhinehart. The incident occurred on the Will Rogers Turnpike when Carlson's semi-truck hit the back of Rhinehart's truck, resulting in Rhinehart's death and critical injuries to another OTA worker, Colton Armstrong. According to court records, Carlson initially claimed he veered off the road while reaching for his dropped cell phone, but after further investigation, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol determined that he was distracted by watching a television show. Carlson appeared in Ottawa County Court on October 3 and was directed to obtain legal representation, with a scheduled court date set for November.
