7-year-old Bengals fan left partially paralyzed by car accident
A young boy from Delhi Township has been in the intensive care unit for several weeks following a traumatic car accident, and his life is forever changed. Seven-year-old Michael Askins and his mother were involved in the crash on Columbia Parkway on August 6th. Michael was unresponsive with head trauma, and his mother remembers the terrifying moments after the accident. Despite doctors giving him a slim chance of survival, Michael has shown progress at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, demonstrating improvement in neurological functions such as reading and math. Unfortunately, he is now paralyzed from the waist down and may never walk again. Michael was a vibrant young boy with dreams of becoming a football player for the Bengals and had aspirations of being a firefighter, police officer, or doctor. The accident also left his mother with severe injuries, requiring rods in her femur and pins in her shoulder. To support the family, Michael's football team is organizing a fundraising event at Buffalo Wild Wings, where a portion of the food sales will go towards Michael's medical expenses. The family appreciates all the prayers and support they have received during this challenging time.
