
7 apprehended after fleeing suspects in downtown smash-and-grab burglary cause fatal accident.
A man has died and seven individuals are in custody after a series of collisions occurred in the downtown area of Chicago, following a burglary at a luxury retail store on the famous Magnificent Mile. The incident started at around 5 a.m. on Thursday when a group of suspected thieves rammed a pickup truck into the Louis Vuitton store near East Walton Street. They reportedly stole items from the store and escaped in other vehicles. One of these vehicles was involved in a crash with a Honda CR-V, resulting in the death of the Honda driver. Five suspects from the crash vehicle were apprehended, and stolen goods were recovered from their car. Another crash involving a different vehicle, an Audi Q50, occurred on Lake Shore Drive. The Audi driver lost control of the vehicle, and two individuals who tried to flee were arrested. Stolen goods were also found in the Audi. No injuries were reported in this second crash. The victim has not been identified yet, and charges against those in custody have not been disclosed. The investigation into these incidents is ongoing.
