
3 critically injured in Sacramento helicopter crash, Highway 50 temporarily closed
A medical helicopter crashed on Highway 50 Monday night, resulting in serious injuries to three crew members, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash occurred on eastbound Highway 50 just east of Stockton Boulevard, causing a closure of the freeway until around 1:20 a.m. Tuesday. The Sacramento Fire Department reported that the helicopter carried a pilot, nurse, and paramedic, and fortunately, there was no patient on board. The accident caused heavy traffic on Highway 50, but fortunately, no fire ignited from the crash. The cause of the crash is still unknown, and investigations are being carried out by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
