18-year-old accused of reckless homicide in fatal Appleton collision
An 18-year-old individual has been taken into custody concerning a fatal collision in Appleton that occurred last week, as reported by the Appleton Police Department. The individual, identified as Carter J. Green, has been detained at the Outagamie County Jail on allegations of first-degree reckless homicide and driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated leading to injury. Law enforcement officers were called to the scene of a crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of North Richmond Street and the I-41 northbound off-ramp early Saturday morning. Fortunately, although one of the vehicles caught fire, both the driver and passenger escaped with minor injuries. However, in the other vehicle involved, the driver and passenger were found unconscious and seriously injured. Tragically, the driver, who had to be rescued by the fire department, succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. Investigators suspect Green, the driver of the first vehicle, was impaired by alcohol at the time of the incident. Their inquiry showed that the vehicle had been traveling above 100 miles per hour and had disregarded a red traffic signal. Presently, no formal charges have been brought against Green, based on current legal documents.
